The investment of nearly 6 billion rupees will not only be used to upgrade the original capacity, but also to increase the capacity of its Chakan plant in Pune, India. Public information shows that the 6 billion rupees investment will be carried out in three years.
Bridgestone attaches great importance to this investment in India. According to the tire manufacturer, its Indian company is introducing its global technology and manufacturing for the Indian market to meet the diversified needs of Indian car owners for fuel-saving and higher-quality products. At the same time, this upgrade and new capacity will also make Bridgestone tyres more suitable for the improved road quality in India.
It is reported that the Chakan plant in Bridgestone Pune started production in 2013. In order to achieve the sustainable manufacturing development goal, the plant currently uses sustainable energy including solar power plant and carbon neutral biomass fuel boiler plant to participate in tire manufacturing.

In September 2022, Bridgestone India launched "Sturdo" tyres with longer service life for the passenger car market. The tire uses special tread compound, which can prolong the tire life by 29%; At the same time, the tyre is "handy" for rough roads - even if the road condition is poor, the tyre handling performance is still stable.
In addition, Bridgestone India also has the Ecopia tire series. These tires are designed with a combination of light and solid materials, which can improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
