Bridgestone is building a 50000 square meter warehouse in Poland to distribute tyres from Central and Eastern Europe. The facility is located in the Panattoni Logistics Park in Poznan and operated by ESA logistika as part of a multi-year contract.
The warehouse can store and distribute tires to retail centers in the region every day. The company has 6000 retail stores in the regional departments of Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa (Emia), of which 16 tire manufacturers provide products to these stores through their tire distribution centers.
The new distribution warehouse will also handle tyres produced by Bridgestone's new manufacturing plant in Poznan.
As part of the contract with Bridgestone, ETA logistika provided a warehouse management system (WMS), which controls the conveyor used for loading and unloading tires, and will also control the robot used to transport tires to a large rack system for storage. Bridgestone said that the facility was organized on a sustainable basis, using photovoltaic lighting and systems to save energy and water and reduce emissions.
El, Director of Logistics and Supply Chain, Bridgestone Eastern Europe ? Bieta Oussar said: "The new project launched by us in cooperation with ESA logistics company reflects our commitment to create a supply chain and logistics with long-term environmental benefits, and perfectly matches the ecological and energy values promised by Bridgestone E8. Laurent Dartoux, president and CEO of Bridgestone EMIA, commented: "This move to the new headquarters of Bridgestone EMIA gives us the opportunity to create an ideal working space to meet the needs of our global hybrid team while adapting to the intelligent working mode.
The channel has spared no effort to expand
Bridgestone has also spared no effort to expand its channels in recent years. In 2015, after the failure of Bridgestone Group's attempt to spend US $1 billion to acquire the American Pepper boy tire dealer, it has successively carried out a series of major channel acquisitions in the global market, making great contributions to Bridgestone's sales.
On July 28, 2016, Bridgestone officially completed the acquisition of Speedy France, a French auto service and tire retail chain service provider. The specific amount has not been disclosed. Bridgestone's French sales outlets are expected to expand to 800, making a great contribution to its growth strategy. In September 2016, Bridgestone acquired part of the equity of the local chain tire retail company Pneus à bas prix in France. Bridgestone said to the public that holding Pneus à bas prix can strengthen Bridgestone's competitive strength in the French market and play a huge role in supplementing the company's retail business.
On May 31, 2017, Bridgestone Tire Company announced that it had completed the acquisition of Ayme Group. As a result, Bridgestone has more than 900 retail outlets in Europe, including First Stop, Speed and C ? t é Route.
In September 2018, Bridgestone successfully acquired Exhaust, Tyres and Batteries (ETB), the UK automotive service providers, to expand its retail business in the UK. ETB, located in Worcester in the southwest of the UK, has 32 sales outlets in the UK.
In 2019, Bridgestone Europe completed the acquisition of TomTom Telematics, a leading European telematics business company, with 910 million euros (about 6.9 billion yuan). The ultimate purpose of acquiring the company is also to better serve the tire sales channel.
In 2018, Bridgestone worked with Goodyear to create the largest distributor TireHub in the North American market. TireHub will provide a full range of comprehensive wholesale and retail services for Goodyear and Bridgestone's passenger car tires and passenger car tires, focusing on meeting the growing demand for large size tires and high-quality tires.
TireHub integrates Goodyear's wholesale and distribution network and the resource sales of Bridgestone's tire wholesale subsidiary, and will operate more than 80 distribution centers nationwide. This transaction will greatly promote the development of Goodyear and Bridgestone's respective tire businesses, and bring higher value to the brands of the two enterprises. The executives of both companies have high hopes for TireHub.
In December 2019, tire business learned from Bridgestone USA that its tire and service network GCR tire and service (hereinafter referred to as GCR) completed another acquisition in the United States, and recorded tire dealer Tires Inc.
Tires Inc has been in operation for more than 60 years since 1954. Chehalis and Tumwater in Washington have two outlets providing tires and services. After the acquisition, the two outlets will continue to provide a full set of commercial and passenger vehicle services, and will provide the complete product series of Bridgestone and Firestone brands, including OTR, TBR, PCR, agricultural tires, etc. In addition, the outlets of Chehalis will continue to produce Bandag retreaded tires.
Channel optimization and integration
Bridgestone's channel layout is not only limited to expansion, but also continuously optimized and integrated. In 2019, Bridgestone carried out a series of channel asset separation and integration, involving 73 commercial service outlets and 12 refurbished factories, including:
1: 10 GCR tire service stores and 1 GCR tire retreading factory in Florida and Georgia are sold to Boulevard Tire Center in Florida;
2: 13 GCR tire service stores and 3 GCR tire refurbishment plants in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia were sold to McCarthy Tire Service Company in Pennsylvania;
3: 46 GCR tire service stores and 6 GCR tire refurbishment plants in the southern United States were sold to Southern Tire Mart in Mississippi;
4: Four GCR tire service stores and two GCR tire refurbishment plants in the southern United States were sold to Parkhouse Tire Company in California.
5: Close 13 Firestone Complete Auto Care stores in Great Salt Lake City.
Bridgestone's channel development and management are almost abnormal, which may be one of the reasons why Bridgestone has been able to dominate the world. A healthy and good channel can ensure the smooth completion of tire sales. From some aspects, Bridgestone is absolutely the "king of channels".
