On January 4, the first industrial trial production of iron based comb branch polybutadiene rubber was carried out in China. This trial production is completed by the solution polymerized styrene butadiene rubber production line of Baling Petrochemical.
It is reported that the R&D unit of this product is Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Process, Chinese Academy of Sciences. By designing and synthesizing a new type of iron based catalyst, the iron based comb branch polybutadiene rubber was created. This material can completely replace the imported solution polymerized styrene butadiene rubber.
In July 2022, the new materials passed the scientific and technological achievements appraisal of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. The wet skid resistance of tires manufactured with this product can reach Class A of the new EU labeling method.
Linglong Tire, Senqilin Tire and Haohua Tire have participated in relevant research and development projects. They are committed to applying iron based comb branch polybutadiene rubber to high-performance tire tread.
The data shows that SSBR is an important anti-skid tread material, which mainly depends on imports at present.
