The processing classification of latex products can be divided into three categories: impregnated products, sponge products, and extruded products. Let’s summarize the characteristics of these three processing methods:
Impregnated products, latex products made by the dipping process are called dipping products. The dipping method has a long history of processing latex products and the process is relatively mature. The dipping products account for the largest proportion of latex industrial production and consume the largest amount of latex. The impregnation process is divided into direct impregnation and coagulant impregnation.
The direct dipping method is to directly immerse the model into the mixed latex, then dry it to form a film, and vulcanize it to obtain the finished product. The condom is formed by direct dipping. In 2008, my country produced about 6 billion condoms, of which about 1.7 billion were exported, and condom production consumed about 17,000 tons of natural latex. In 2008, my country imported nearly 500 million condoms.
The coagulant dipping method is the ion deposition method, which is to impregnate the model of the desired product with the coagulant, then dipping the mixed latex, and then drying and vulcanizing it to make the desired product. Such as surgical gloves, examination gloves, household gloves, industrial gloves, toy balloons, various finger cots and other impregnated products, such as explosive bags, valve cores, ball bladders, etc. are processed by this method. Among the impregnated products, all kinds of gloves consume the largest amount of natural latex. In 2008, my country's production of various gloves consumed about 130,000 tons of latex. Among them, the production of surgical gloves consumes about 60,000 tons of natural latex. In 2008, 2.2 billion pairs of surgical gloves were produced domestically, 1.6 billion pairs were exported, and 150 million pairs were imported; 2 billion pairs of inspection gloves, household gloves, industrial gloves and other glove products were produced, 1.6 billion pairs were exported, and 800 million pairs were imported. Household gloves, industrial gloves and other glove products consume about 60,000 tons of natural latex products; toy balloons, finger cots and other impregnated products consume about 20,000 tons of natural latex products. It can be seen that the consumption of natural latex for latex impregnated products is about 170,000 tons.
Sponge products, latex sponges have good cushioning and shockproof performance and compression fatigue resistance, and were once one of the four major products in the latex industry. With the widespread application of relatively inexpensive polyurethane foam as elastic padding and plasticized porous polyurethane, the expensive latex sponge gradually lost its market competitiveness. In recent years, with people's attention to health and environmental protection, due to the excellent performance of latex sponges, latex sponges have shown a new development momentum in some high-end furniture and household items. At present, the amount of natural latex used by latex sponges is not large. The annual consumption of natural latex is less than 10,000 tons.
Extrusion products, latex extrusion products are made by using a certain pressure (static pressure or a little pressure) to extrude the latex through the required cross-section and shape into a solid or hollow semi-finished product, and then processed into latex products. The latex products produced by this method mainly include rubber latex threads and hoses, as well as a small amount of products with special cross-sectional structures.
The latex silk has the characteristics of smooth surface, uniform thickness, good elasticity and high strength. It is an elastic material widely used in textile, clothing and sports and cultural undertakings, such as wide and tight belts for clothing and socks, sports equipment, buffer ropes, etc.
Because of its simple processing technology and the characteristics of being able to be made into any length, rubber latex silk became the main product of many latex product companies in the 1970s. However, because the rubber latex silk is basically a pure rubber product, the cost is relatively high. When the cutting equipment and technology of dry glue wire are further improved, it will be gradually replaced by dry glue glue wire.
Hose is also a typical latex extrusion product. The principle of using the extrusion method to produce the rubber tube is to use the heat-sensitive agent in the latex to coagulate the latex at a higher temperature and extrude it. The rubber latex tube is hygienic and non-toxic. The rubber tube body is soft, the inner and outer walls are smooth, it is easy to clean, the drainage is smooth, and it is resistant to cooking. Therefore, the natural rubber latex tube was once an ideal medical equipment, widely used in blood transfusion, infusion and other medical places. . With the development of disposable plastic infusion sets, it has completely replaced the application of latex tubes in this regard. The hose is currently only used as a general catheter, fitness hose, medical tourniquet, etc.
